Headmaster's Weekly Address

Dear Parents,

The Staff Reflection Day was a great success. It combined prayer, study of the Gospels, group work – practical and cerebral – using the collection and facilities of the NGV, and, a chance for staff from all four campuses, St Peter’s ELC, Glendalough, Waterford and Heyington, to mix. My sincere thanks to Mr Michael McGirr for the organisation and smooth functioning of such an important day in the life of our staff.

Thursday evening, Kate and I enjoyed the Senior Musical, in which the vocals, dancing, costumes, acting and sets were all first rate. Satire oozed as the cast parodied the 1950s attitudes that to today’s society, particularly our young, seem so badly out of touch with modern values. Dominic Morelli was outstanding as the male lead and Zoe Dobbin, matched his artistic and vocal skills in her role. At my count, 77 Loreto and SKC students were involved on stage, back of house and musically. This involvement in and of itself, makes the production a success. My sincere thanks to all staff involved.

Be alert for a plethora of drama offerings to complete the term. I know that Lion King Jr, the Glendalough Musical is a sellout, however there are tickets available for Robin Hood in the Ruby Tout across 10, 11 and 12 September and the Year 9 production of Romeo and Juliet, in the Vaucluse Hall at Waterford on 17, 18 and 19 September.

Kind regards,

Stephen F Russell
