St Patrick's Cathedral Choral Scholarships (for entry into Year 5)

St Patrick's Cathedral Choir scholarships are offered by the Archdiocese of Melbourne in conjunction with St Kevin's College to support the liturgical music program of St Patrick's Cathedral. Alongside their involvement in the musical and spiritual life of the Cathedral, scholarship holders also contribute to the musical activities of the College. The scholarship scheme provides an opportunity for boys with appropriate musical talent to receive an academic education of the highest quality at one of Melbourne's finest Catholic schools, alongside an exceptional musical education both at the Cathedral and at St Kevin's College.

To be eligible to apply for these scholarships, boys must be Catholic and able to enrol in Year 5 at St Kevin's College. Applications can only be made in the year prior to the student commencing in Year 5. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of an audition and students must satisfy the normal entrance requirements of the College. The audition is conducted by the Director of the Cathedral Choir, with successful applicants being invited to an interview. Auditions are held in May of each year.

Registrations for Choral Scholarships for 2025 have now closed.
Registrations for Choral Scholarships for entry into Year 5, 2026 will open in February 2025.

The College will contact all families of applicants after the gazetted closing date to explain the process and confirm an audition time.

Edmund Rice Bursaries (entry at Year 7)

An Edmund Rice Bursary is designed to open a St Kevin's education to young Catholic men whose families would otherwise not be able to consider a St Kevin's education. Applications are made to the Dean of Admissions with supporting evidence of a student's ability to contribute to the life of the College. All Edmund Rice Bursaries are extensively means-tested. An application needs to be made one year prior to the desired year of entry.

Duration of Scholarships

All scholarships are subject to annual review and demonstration of the appropriate level of commitment and participation to the life of the College. Scholarships extend to the completion of Year 12.
